Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to:

    • carry out wildlife and vegetation surveys in a multitude of environments including desert, riparian, and chaparral.

    • work independently and efficiently with little supervision

    • direct and supervise employee training, productivity, and compliance

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint software

  • Introductory experience using ArcGIS, Google Earth, Microsoft Access, SPSS and ‘R’ statistics software

  • Comfortable instructing and educating kindergarten through college-level students

  • Comfortable using radio telemetry equipment and handheld GPS devices

  • Bird, herpetofauna, mammal, plant, and insect field identification

  • Familiarity with the use of taxonomic keys for identifying plants and animals

  • Familiarity with Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Protocol (SWAMP)
